Introducing Rabanne H&M

The time has finally come. After months of teasing us with glitzy parties and promo shots from the fashion collection, Rabanne H&M launches in store and online today!

Heralded as ‘a celebration of movement, radical craftsmanship and easygoing glamour’ the collaboration promises to bring together the carefree exuberance of the 1970s, the optimistic futurism of Rabanne and a touch of retro-inflected romance. The collection certainly nails the maximalist opulence vibe, perfect for the upcoming party season.

After launching their Mugler collection earlier this year, H&M keeps on serving up the big names with each collaboration seemingly engineered to top the last. When you consider they have teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Balmain in the past, that is no mean feat. Ever since Rabanne H&M launched at Paris Fashion Week with a star studded party (guests included Cher, Elle Fanning and Jared Leto, among others) we have been on high alert waiting for more details of the drop.

And while sometimes the hype doesn’t always translate into sales, having previewed the collection online, we think there is a smart mix of trend-led and classic pieces that are worth the investment. Think military epaulettes, glitter, sequins, faux fur and bold colours for starters. Retro glam is given a distinctly 2023 contemporary twist just in time for the holiday festivities.

There’s also a wonderful unexpected hi-low mix of athleisure pieces teamed with sequins and lace, breathing new life into the sports luxe trend, and apparently giving us the green light to overindulge at Christmas while still looking stylish in sweatpants. My kind of dressing!

We love that there will be a limited HOME collection too, promising sleek yet playful pieces designed to convey laid-back luxury. Expect accent furniture and quirky accessories all with the signature Rabanne sheen.

Founded in 1966, Rabanne has always pushed the boundaries of style, constructing provocative and often unexpected pieces. The house’s current creative director, Julien Dossena, continues to build on this legacy, producing dynamic collections that inspire and induce joy.

This partnership with H&M will open up the brand to a whole new generation, making high quality, designer fashion accessible to the masses. A H&M collaboration signature. And for the most part, it’s a successful strategy. I still have pieces from H&M’s previous collections; a statement velvet dress from The Vampire’s Wife, a red and inky blue tie dye jumper from Isabel Marant, a floaty palm tree printed drop hem dress from Desmond & Dempsey and leather brogues from Simone Rocha. Clearly, I’m every marketers’ dream.

Here’s a few pieces from the collection I’ll be adding to my basket today…
