Hitting The Slopes? Here’s Some Ski Style Inspiration

The Luxe Diary Ski

The February half term is almost upon us! Be honest, for a moment there, you didn’t think you’d make it, did you? January had a way of making 31 days feel like 3000, but with a break on the horizon, we thought we’d turn our attention to something much more fun, ski style.

If you need some inspiration for your mood board, then look no further than the Moncler Grenoble fall/winter 2024 collection unveiled in St. Moritz last week. Classic catwalk with a twist. A snowy fairytale. A wonderland bringing all elements of nature and the great outdoors together.

Runway guests (including Anne Hathaway and Kate Moss) were treated to 90+ looks in largely neutral hues with pops of color and geometric shapes used as welcome accents. The overall effect was undeniably luxe, expensive, and truly stunning. In fact, I would gladly forgo my entire winter wardrobe budget to own the all-white snowboarding suit modeled by Irina Shayk, or the oversized fur coat and boots as sported by Emily Ratajkowski.

The extravagance seen in this show has become part and parcel of Remo Ruffini’s vision for the brand. It’s interesting that this grand scale approach isn’t featured in the collection itself; for Ruffini, the focus is on elevating technical and performance-driven clothing for the style-conscious consumer.

It’s a trend we have seen gathering momentum in recent years too; ‘The Great Outdoors’ becoming new territory for fashion brands. The North Face has arguably straddled both worlds admirably for some time, but their collaboration with Gucci certainly kicked it up a level.

While I’ll be sitting this ski season out, that doesn’t mean I won’t be window shopping for some new ski wear and enjoying seeing celebs, fashionistas and friends alike posing atop a mountain, a glass of wine in hand and a fondue stick in the other.

If you’re looking for some inspiration too, here’s our picks of some minimal and maximalist pieces we love right now. Mix and match, or stick to your own aesthetic – there are no rules when it comes to ski style. I’m somewhere between a clean girl and a mob wife, so in theory, this is my season to shine!
