“Opposite Attracts” marks Opera Gallery Dubai’s final exhibition of 2017. Opera Gallery Dubai curates a stunning exhibition of two artists using different mediums for a show running from 6 to 21 December 2017.

Known for offering artworks of high quality, Opera Gallery Dubai, a member of the well-established contemporary art gallery network has curated a duo show for artists Pascal Haudressy and Alfred Haberpointner.

Aptly named, ‘Opposite Attracts’  the showcase highlights how contemporary art is being interpreted through polar opposite mediums. With more than 25 artworks split between the two artists, Opera Gallery offers collectors a unique opportunity to explore contemporary art through modern technology and one of the most organic materials, wood.

Pascal Haudressy, a French artist who is distinguished by his unprecedented artistic approach, is a keen and curious observer of our times. His passion for everything material, immaterial and everything in-between translates into intricate and thought-provoking artworks often times narrating complex issues or exploring themes related to nature.  Haudressy’s work explores the blank space between different media – painting, sculpture and video. He has pioneered a new image format – video installations that forensically focus on the nature of movement, light, shadow, and merging virtual and physical space.

Moving to the opposite end of virtual art, Austrian born artist Alfred Haberpointner’s medium of choice is spruce wood. He grew up surrounded by trees and the artworks he creates are a long lasting testament and tribute to the environment of his childhood. Through his hands, Alfred is able to transform a certain form of violence and destruction into a form of poetry, which transports viewers into an abstract universe – set in wood. The inclusion of ink pigments and focal points embedded into the wood add another dimension to Alfred’s work that viewers can explore.

Sylvain Gaillard, Director of Opera Gallery Dubai says, “We have certainly shed the comfort cloak for this exhibition and have curated a show that showcases the diversity of Opera Gallery and the vision we have moving forward. This exhibition is a journey for viewers and we are really proud to present two impressive artists who are unique and extremely talented in their own right”.

Opera Gallery Dubai invites you to discover opposite, yet parallel universes on a journey that only your mind can dictate.
