Seriously Sri Lanka | Ceylon Tea Trails | Cape Weligama | Tri
The Luxe Diary has teamed up with Hudsons Travel to source some of the most luxurious Sri Lankan getaways and curate your Luxe Travel List for Sri Lanka this autumn – in time to inspire you for the UAE National Day long weekend.
Ceylon Tea Trails | Hatton
Starting with a true luxury original, Ceylon Tea Trails is a stunning natural and luxury resort set in the tea plantations. Situated at an altitude of 1250 metres near Hatton in central Sri Lanka, in 2005, the Fernando family behind Dilmah tea, the country’s only entirely homegrown and managed tea brand, launched Tea Trails, Sri Lanka’s first tea bungalow resort which has set the precedent for luxury hotel accommodation in Sri Lanka.
Comprising five very distinctive colonial style bungalows, each named after past tea planter occupants, Tea Trails allows its guests insight into the working estates of one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated tea brands.
The resort is now also the first tea resort in the country to offer night-time safari-style trails across over 2,000 acres of tea country. After a tea-inspired dinner, guests can join the resort’s leading naturalist, Anuradha Ediriweera, and his team on a night-time trail across the valley. Trails will lead guests from bungalow to bungalow where they can spot different types of amphibians, sleeping lizards, snakes, wild boar and jungle cats.
Upon arrival back at their bungalow, guests will be met by a refreshing cup of Sri Lanka’s finest Dilmah tea and a rewarding bath run by their butler in residence.

Tri | Koggala Lake
Just inland from the coast, set on the tranquil shores of Koggala Lake, Sri Lanka’s first sustainable design hotel, Tri, will be celebrating its first anniversary this December. Founded by British photographer, Rob Drummond, who was determined to bring something wholly different to Sri Lanka, Drummond worked closely with Raefer Wallis, of Shanghai’s A00 Architects, to design a hotel that honors nature, enriches its surroundings, and prioritises sustainable practice.

The retreat will assess guests’ doshas to find their Ayurvedic nature, in order to tailor their yoga practice, food and holistic treatments to ensure optimal health and positive state of mind. Guests will reset their body-mind connection through daily yoga practice in Tri’s treetop yoga shala, alongside delicious and nourishing Ayuvedic cuisine, located in Sri Lanka’s first truly sustainable contemporary design hotel. 2017 will also see the launch of Tri’s very own trio of dosha-balancing massage oils to continue the pampering long after guests return home.
