Our experience centered around sound & sushi as we were treated to an exclusive supersonic evening with Bang & Olufsen at Morimoto Dubai to celebrate the launch of B&O’s brand new Beoplay P6.
A veritable feast for the senses – we were invited to experience how the sense of sound enhances your sense of taste.
Morimoto Dubai
Morimoto Dubai spans the 23rd and 24th floors of the Renaissance Hotel Downtown Dubai. Its contemporary Japanese cuisine menu infuses traditional dishes with Western ingredients and preparation techniques for the perfect fusion.
The setting was ideal to complement the Beoplay P6’s Skandi design by award-winning Cecilie Manz and experience the 360-degree dispersion of the rich and powerful Bang & Olufsen signature sound.
Consisting mostly of music from Japan, the event playlist was created by Simon Coates (artist, writer and curator based in London) to complement the courses served. The tracks chosen also revealed the power and flexibility of Bang and Olufsen’s Beoplay P6 speaker.
The Sound of Sushi
Canapés & Tokyo Lounge Music
Canapés including avocado tacos (with fresh avocado, cilantro and lime) & rock shrimp tempura with spicy kochujan sauce and wasabi aïoli were enjoyed to laid-back Tokyo lounge music, Japanese jazz and easy listening.
Starters & Japanese Electronica
A mix of classic, edgy Japanese electronica and sophisticated glitch created perfect listening to enjoy the starters. Our highlights were spicy Alaskan king crab & obanjan aïoli and braised beef cheeks with rice congee & soy-scallion jus.
Sushi & the Sea
The mix went underwater, inspired by the sounds of the sea under the stars for sushi – where we tasted Chef Morimoto’s ultimate combination. Chef Morimoto’s seasonal and ever-changing selection of traditional and innovative raw fish preparations is incredible with imported ingredients from markets around the world, including the famed Tsukiji market in Tokyo.
Entrées & Tokyo Tunes
For Entrées, the mix was bold, strong, playful and super-cool: punchy sound for the spicy but deliciously flavoursome ‘Angry Chicken’ & cool enough for the best braised black cod with ginger soy reduction this side of Tokyo.
Dessert & Retro Exotica
Dessert of mango parfait, coconut financier and green tea sorbet followed by the incredible signature Morimoto S’mores (dark brown sugar graham, salted milk chocolate mousse and toasted marshmallows) were devoured to the finger-snapping sound of retro and blissed-out exotica.

Morimoto Dubai serves contemporary Japanese fusion. The restaurant, which spans the 23rd and 24th floor of the Renaissance Downtown, boasts four terraces, a bar, live teppanyaki and sushi counters.

Beoplay P6 launches in two colours, Black and Natural. It comes with a USB-C charging cable in the box and retails for a suggested price of AED 1,599 (inclusive of VAT).
