Marchesa Wows at Opening of Arab Fashion Week in Dubai

Arab Fashion Week Opens | Meydan Hotel Grandstand | 16 – 20 May 2017

Arab Fashion Week opened yesterday featuring a stunning show by guest of honour, luxury womenswear label Marchesa, which recently opened its first store in Dubai. The brand’s Co-Founder, Georgina Chapman, presented her Ready-To-Wear collection featuring beautiful evening gowns with intricate details and embroidery that have always been synonymous with Marchesa.

“We’re honored to be opening Arab Fashion Week and are thrilled to introduce our Ready-To-Wear and Bridal collections, allowing customers an intimate opportunity to purchase collection items they see on the runway,” said Chapman. As part of Marchesa’s participation at Arab Fashion Week, the brand has also created a unique pop-up boutique at the venue which will be open daily throughout the five-day event. Marchesa will showcase its bridal collection during the final day of Arab Fashion Week on Saturday 20 May.

The fourth edition of Arab Fashion Week was officially with the inaugural ceremony in an exclusive partnership with Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum Juma AlMaktoum Investment (MBM). The bi-annual event, which is taking place from 16-20th May at the Meydan Hotel Grandstand, is the first and only platform in the world to showcase Resort and Ready-Couture collections with an exciting line-up of international as well as regional designers.

The Arab Fashion Week was opened by a Canadian-born Jordanian designer Rad Hourani with a unisex show featuring clean and sleek silhouettes that celebrate neutrality as a defining human trait. Jenanne Filat, the Creative Director behind the luxury menswear label Barakat Bespoke, showcased a Ready-Couture collection with some exclusive pieces dedicated to Dubai followed by magnificent creations from Chinese fashion house Mrhua Mrshua. In a beautiful couture show, titled ‘Dui Niu Tan Q’, designer Niuniu Zhou for Mrhua Mrshua, expressed his eclectic style with stripy evening dresses and funky accessories featuring tassels and elements from graffiti art. The collection presented by Lebanese designer Abdo Aoude epitomized the essence of feminine sophistication and ultimate glamour associated with the Arab woman.
