Arab Fashion Week FW16-17
The second edition of Arab Fashion Week, presented by Huawei Arabia, just culminated after four glamorous evenings in the gardens of the St. Regis Hotel in Dubai. Arab Fashion Week heralded once again up and coming designers, both national and international, putting them on the centre stage and introducing their creations worldwide. Here is The Luxe Diary’s pick of the most innovative designers shaping FW16-17 trends, from Dubai to the fashion world.
Yu Jordy Fu brought a futuristic appeal to her collection during Arab Fashion Week. Maintaining her sophisticated geometric vision and artistic intuition, the collection brought about a blue and white pastel palette of exquisite designs. Envisioned ruffles and diagonally segmented accessories highlighted the runway.
The final day of Arab Fashion kicked off by the extraordinary collection of Rani Zakhem. Elegant folds and pleated details wrapped the silhouettes with refined finesse. The collection also featured elaborate bows and ruffles to create a dramatized effect on the runway.
Alberto Zambelli brought a collection of abstract pop art to the runway. Furry capes, scallop shaped ruffles and urbane overcoats highlighted the essence of street chic and the ultra modern. Exquisite contemporary palette and sophisticated printed work highlighted the silhouettes to near perfection. High-waisted belts, elaborated scarves, perforated sleeves and flowing ruffles brought out a refreshing outlook – a definite ultra chic.
Closing the final day of Arab Fashion Week, Emirati designer Lamya Abedin took to centrestage with a luxurious iconic 1920s inspired theme. Her collection showcased an enduring heritage of fashion with dazzling beads, free flowing gowns and vintage impressions. She brought on a rustic interpretation of a glorious era. Conceptualizing a Victorian grandeur to the runway, Lamya Abedin has accurately portrayed the modern classic and is the Emirati designer to watch.
