Fashion Forward Dubai (FFWD), the progressive Middle Eastern fashion platform, returns to Paris for a second edition of their Showroom in Paris, from 2 to 6 March 2017 at Hotel InterContinental Paris Le Grand, 2 Rue Scribe – 75009, Presidential Suite Rooms 4136 and 4138, in collaboration with Muriel Piaser Consulting office as Global Fashion Developer.  

FFWD will present a carefully curated selection in its showroom of the best apparel and accessory designers from the region including Amira Haroon, Anaya, Asya Krasnaya, Cheyma, Hessa Falasi, Kage, Kristina Fidelskaya, Lama Jouni, Poca & Poca, Rami Al Ali, Rula Galayini, Salta, Soltana and Sotra.

About FFWD

Endorsed by Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) and supported by strategic partner Dubai Design District (d3), FFWD enters its ninth season on 23 March 2016 in Dubai presenting the best ready-to-wear, couture and accessory designers in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region over four days.

To further support the Middle East’s creative eco-system, in August 2016 FFWD launched EPICxSAMSUNG (Empowerment Program through Industry Collaboration). Enabled by Samsung Electronics MENA, EPIC is delivering a calendar of events, workshops, sponsorship opportunities, influencer and scholarship programs, all of which are dedicated to the progress of emerging fashion talent in the Middle East. The FFWD Showroom in Paris is a pivotal element of EPIC as it aims to provide Middle Eastern designers with a promising opportunity for international visibility and commercial viability during a period of peak exposure and commercial for the fashion world. Enhanced by technology, the showroom will allow visitors to preview and experience the designer’s full collections and past work in real time.

About the Designers

ANAYA is a contemporary women’s wear designer Label. The collection was launched in Dubai in 2011. Since then, it has been picked up from leading magazines in the UAE like GRAZIA and Harper’s Bazaar and seen in many celebrities for its fashion forward pieces. The designer, Chathuri Samaraweera’s work reflects a contemporary, Feminine handwriting with unique cuts and fabric manipulations which brings out a product that’s different yet wearable.

AMIRA HAROON – Having grown up in the Middle East, Haroon launched her brand in 2010. She designs for a woman who has a Middle Eastern soul with a trans-regional outlook and attitude, a confident and globally travelled woman

ASYA KRASNAYA – Based in Dubai the signature is the brand, designed by sisters Evgeniya and Elena, lies in bringing together Russian culture and lifestyle: ballet, luscious nature, cozy log houses and the tenderness of summer night at grandma’s with an extremely recognizable balance, characterized by fresh colors, soft and good for skin fabrics, high definition of sport chic finishing and signature current print.

CHEYMA – Born in the capital of fashion Paris, Cheyma graduated from the Institute of Political Sciences of Paris with a Masters in fashion & luxury marketing. She worked for some of the most prestigious fashion brands in Paris including Christian Dior Couture, Chloé, and Saint Laurent Paris, with a digital experience at Lacoste, from which she got her sportswear touch. Cheyma describes her aesthetic as whimsical and etheraeal, and intends to give life to her various influences in order to empower women through her creations made with love and care.

HESSA FALASIHessa Falasi, an Emirati brand, established in 2011 in Dubai and is inspired by the Arabic culture, traditional abayas are given a modern twist with a variety of high quality fabrics, a kaleidoscope of colors in fully on-trend fashion. Perfection is strived for in each design, HF brand strives to implement this at all phases of the creation process: from concept to conception then completion. Each garment is the result of a long and rigorous artisanal savoir-faire that creates the ultimate experience in Middle-Eastern chic. 

KAGE – Dubai-based label KAGE designed by Basma Abu Ghazaleh, launched in 2009 and offers ready-to wear womenswear. Each collection brings a modern feel while staying loyal to the inherent daring nature of the KAGE girl: self-loving and unobstructed, she lives a life without boundaries, where style is what she chooses to express with the freedom of individuality.

KRISTINA FIDELSKAYA – A Dubai-based label spearheading by Kristina Fidelskaya who mixes vintage styles with her current cultural fascinations. The eponymous label effortlessly creates elegant and timeless clothes that speak to every woman. As an entrepreneur, a mother and a trendsetter, her collections symbolize the power and independence of the modern woman while maintaining the traditionally refined femininity and class.

LAMA JOUNI – Launched in 2013, the eponymous label of the Paris-based Lebanese designer produces high-end ready-to-wear with its own unique style and bold designs. Her pieces have discernible and inspiring cultural referents, in outlines or details, and are made to be worn by independent and passionate women. Lama Jouni was recently selected to showcase on the catwalk at Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week A/W 17 as part of an EPIC initiative in partnership with FAD Institute of Luxury Fashion & Style Dubai & Fashion Scout

POCA & POCA is a fashion brand created by the talented sister and brother duo Karolina and Wiktor Gniewek. Bringing together fresh and creative designs, a passion for style, a love for precious things, unique fabrics and an eye for detail; POCA & POCA brings to life exceptional creations for the charming woman, personifying her original and charismatic sense of style. The brand is a favourite of fashion personalities from the region and beyond. showroom

RAMI AL ALI – Born in Syria, Rami Al Ali’s love of refined aesthetics began at an early age. Al Ali’s European breakthrough came in 2009, when his Spring/Summer couture collection graced the runway at Rome’s AltaRoma couture week. His success was further cemented by being named as one of the top 50 most influential Arabs by The Middle East Magazine. Growing in confidence and status, Al Ali’s designs were sought after by celebrities and socialites alike, adorning the likes of Natasha Bedingfield, Vanessa Mae, Ivana Trump, Youssra, Julie Bowen and Googoosh, amongst many others.

RULA GALAYINI – Rula Galayini is a reflection of the woman who wears it: strong, edgy, and sensual; a power-bag and a contemporary statement piece. Her collections are designed for the everyday, yet tailored for the surprises that one never expects. Rula is a Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize Finalist, her bag has been listed by Vogue UK as 100 best bags in the world, and she is a winner of Mediterranean Fashion Prize in Marseille funded by Dior and Chanel.

SALTAKazakhstani designer Saltanat Baimukhamedova founded her label SALTA in 2008. In 2016 the label relocated to Dubai, UAE, furthering Saltanat’s aim to become a Middle Eastern designer with global vision. The label offers freedom and comfort yet with a touch of modern ethnic creativity – a contemporary yet affordable aesthetic with a cosmopolitan touch and flawless shapes and lines produced for successful, creative and feminine woman. showroom

SOLTANA is the story of a passionate young woman in fashion, Fatma Ben Soltane, who was able to make her childhood dream a reality. She creates a business where sophistication and glamor were inevitably combined and produced a feminine appeal. A style that is distinguished by the elegance of a strong, confident and daring woman. Feminity, boldness and class are its representative words.

SOTRA – Jeddah-based label Sotra makes its return to FFWD for a second season. Designed by Saudi designer Nouf Hakeem, in collaboration with her partner Mariam bint Mahfooz, the brand creates collections that focus on juxtaposing modern cuts with playful feminine details; to enliven urban wardrobes with colour and texture.
