Dai Pai Dong, the Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s Chinese restaurant, is by far one of our favourites in Abu Dhabi with its chic take on traditional Chinese street food. Huge fans of the beef brisket noodles and the prawn toast during the week, we are excited to try the newly launched Yum Cha Brunch available on Saturdays from 12.00 to 16.00.
As we enter the charmingly smoky and dark atmosphered restaurant and are ushered to our table, we are amazed at the sheer variety of the Yum Cha menu. The list is long and appetite whetting: we are ready for our Yum Cha adventure.
The dishes come fast and beautifully prepared. Our highlight among the appetisers is the roast duck salad, perfectly seasoned. The lotus leaf sticky rice is also delicious. The beef short ribs are one of our favourites on the regular menu, and it is a pleasure to see them in the Yum Cha selection.
Both the Cha Shao Chicken Soup and the Cantonese Shrimp Wanton Soup are warming with clean flavours. Our absolute favourites are the honey-glazed pork neck followed by the crispy chicken in plum sauce.
The desserts are a delight. The Hong Kong egg tarts are – by The Luxe Diary standards (and oh – do we know about egg tarts!) – delicious! The mango soup and fruit compote are complementary, fresh and with just the right level of sweetness to round off the meal.
We sip light and free flowing jasmine tea throughout the brunch. The experience is entirely delightful and delicious – our congratulations to Chef He Jia!
