Burberry February 2017 Collection Preview | Mall of the Emirates | A Triumph of Texture, Fluidity & Volume

If you can’t sit FROW on the day, then we were more than happy to settle for the day after, especially in such an intimate and exclusive gathering as Burberry laid on for us today. The Luxe Diary were treated to smoked salmon blinis and freshly squeezed orange juice, as we gleaned a fascinating behind the scenes look at Christopher Bailey’s latest collection for the fashion house’s February 2017 Collection. season

Sketches adorned the walls, a photo-booth inspired by collaborator Henry Moore’s studio added a bit of social fun, whilst models were kitted out in the key pieces, which only 24 hours earlier had been showcased on the runway at London Fashion Week.

It’s just another example of how Burberry continually stays ahead of its rivals. The first big luxury house to embrace digital activation to its full potential, their social presence is unrivalled as it continues to explore new channels to promote its content. They know how to connect with their consumers on all levels; those lucky enough to attend their shows and those who stream it live at home and then buy their favourite pieces straight after.

Burberry February 2017 Collection - Look 11

This is the second collection, for the February 2017 Collection, to go straight from runway to rack and it’s a tactic which is being applauded by both the fashion world and consumers alike. After all, who wants to wait six months for that iconic trench, new ‘IT’ bag or statement knit? No- the see now, buy now strategy is pure genius. And there’s plenty to see and buy in this Febraury 2017 collection- Bailey’s latest offering is a triumph of texture, fluidity and volume. Playing with proportions, the fabrics and styles were layered up to alter your perception of the traditional feminine cut. Oversized cable knits dangled loosely off the shoulder, whilst the asymmetric pieces (their cream woollen twill coat stole the show) took centre stage. season

We were very impressed with many of the interchangeable pieces on show in the Mall of Emirates boutique. This was a highly wearable collection from Bailey- perhaps, certainly in our eyes at least, one of his best to date. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Moore has allowed him to flex his creative flair once again; to redefine our expectations, to put Burberry back on top. They have become synonymous with not only ‘putting on a show’, but creating a campaign, which translates online, on social and in-store to anyone and everyone who sees it.

Burberry February 2017 Collection - Look 15

As we took our seats at the presentation this morning, there was a dawning realisation that these seats were in fact replicas of the wicker chairs used in London. A clever touch, and it’s the little details like these which make all the difference.

Roll on September…

If you buy three things from the February 2017 Collection, make it…

1. The Mid-Calf Boot: If you thought you had found your boot of the season already, rethink your purchase because these conceptual heels- moulded in tribute to Moore’s use of hollowed forms- are set to storm it this spring. AED 3,850

2. The DK88 Bag: Named after the house code for their signature fabric, this bag is a fitting tribute to Burberry’s history and heritage. Created in their new exclusive trench leather, we can attest the look and feel is absolutely stunning. Classic navy is our pick. AED 9,495

3. Pallas Helmet Motif Sweat: It looks as though our love affair with the statement sweat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. An affordable piece of luxury, we love Burberry’s take on elevated grunge with this pallas helmet inspired jersey. AED 2,195
