The UAE’s dining landscape now has a new entrant, backed by 60+ collective years of hospitality expertise – BB.
At The Luxe Diary, we love a new launch and above all are always so excited to share the news with our readers. This one has been on our radar and we could not be more excited to be introducing BB to you.
Located in DIFC on Happiness Street, BB promises to bring social dining to the region; a fresh, homegrown approach to an Eastern menu, delivered with polished but light-hearted service, and found in a compelling, compact interior.
Social dining at BB is intended to give guests a sense of freedom to design their own experiences based on single-plate meals of baos, bowls, salads, grilled items, and outstanding sweets. Elements of the East are found throughout the menu, drawing on fresh, simple ingredients combined in well-conceived, accessibly priced dishes for a range of palates and budgets.
Stand-out menu items at BB include super green hummus, cauliflower popcorn, and caramelized Brussel sprouts for veggie lovers, while carnivores will appreciate grilled lamb and Wagyu beef skewers as well as bang bang chicken and duck bao. Social dining is exemplified through the shabu-shabu hotpot which cooks on your table as well as cheeky desserts including the BB waffle with a syringe of salted caramel and the Fry Pan Brownie, perfect for sharing. While fully licensed with a wide range of beverage offerings, BB’s drinks menu shines with fruit-infused, creatively crafted mocktails and quenchers.
Choice is at the heart of the BB social dining experience – whether to have a light business lunch or a full-on night out with friends, whether to enjoy the outdoor terrace or the intimate multi-level seating, and what sorts of clever ideas can be jotted down on the pen and pad provided, along with a phone charger, at each of BB’s tables.
“BB defies categorization as a regionally created concept – we walk our own path as owners, as a kitchen, and as a destination. Through our bold approach to social dining – demonstrated by our menu, our interiors, our service and our community, BB is creating a new form of niche hospitality,” said Shabnum Stumpf, founder of BB.
Having launched and managed operations for some of the region’s most successful F&B venues, BB’s founding team has tremendous insight into the needs of guests here. In addition to Shabnum Stumpf, a highly recognizable face by food-lovers in the region, BB’s kitchen is managed by Chef Alex Stumpf, who brings a demonstrated level of expertise with Eastern ingredients, and Spero Panagakis, who has worked with some of the best-known dining destinations in London and Dubai.
“In addition to three founding partners, BB has three key elements – the Friend, the Rebel, and the Pioneer. We are close to our community and listen to what our guests want, but we do things differently through our food, drinks, and entire experience. People who enjoy social dining at BB deserve a continued evolution of our menu and way of serving them – it reflects the region’s appetite for a creative, bold approach,” added Stumpf.
BB is now serving lunch and dinner at its DIFC location on Happiness Street.
