Halfway between drawing and sculpture, the work of Franck Dorat tells us everything with almost nothing! Creative of all trades, Frank went from movie set decoration to 3D special effects. From his 3D drawings, Frank created iron sculptures filled with poetry and character. As part of this year’s Art Dubai, Comptoir 102 will be home to some truly unique pieces of art created by this talented artist.
His work also found a home through collectors around the world from France, Belgium, America, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and Switzerland.
His latest series are large mobiles for the accessories brand ‘Jack Gomme’ (the shop in the Marais-Paris), as well as a new series of sculptures around the playing cards and divination presented this winer in ‘Les Ateliers de Paris’, and with the collective of designers ‘Les Pépins’.
A contemporary take on an old story which is both close to her heart as it reflects her family history but also embodies her passionate relationship to textiles.
Designer Helena Bajaj Larsen was born and raised in Paris by an Indian painter and a Norvegian academic. After receiving a Baccalaureate in Economics and Social Sciences, she left Paris to move to New-York and attend Parsons School of Design.
Her focus from the start has been on textile design and the exploration of surface, through print, knit and various other techniques. The fabrics for the collection were sources from Khadi shops around India and hand-painted using acid and pigments dyes on a variety of silks and other materials.
